PRODUCT CARE GUIDE

When it comes to product, we are on a mission to bring our customer responsibly made clothing, but also offer access to services and systems that keep our products loved and in use for as long as possible.

HOW TO WASH YOUR CLOTHES

Taking care of your clothes means they’ll love you back for longer (and it’s kinder to the planet, too.) Here are our top tips for washing with kindness:

1. To save energy, make sure you fill your washing machine, but don’t overload it. It’s all about balance.

2. Keep your cool. Wash your clothes at lower temperatures to save energy, money, and reduce wear on your favourite pieces.

3. When it comes to detergents, less is more. They’re stronger than you think, and using a little less will get the same clean result.

4. Ditch the softener where possible. It’s better for your clothes and the oceans if you skip it.

5. Avoid the tumble dryer as much as you can. it’s gentler on your clothes to air dry, plus kinder to the planet (and your bank balance!

6. Wear your clothes for longer before washing, especially natural-fibred knits. They’re breathable after all. Plus, they’ll last longer

7. Keep those microfibres out of the ocean by using a washing bag for your synthetics and activewear.

Removing stains, made simple

Accidents happen, but with a little love, your clothes can bounce back.
Here’s how to tackle those everyday stains:

Makeup stains

For foundation stains, dab with oil-free makeup remover or shaving cream. Let it sit, then use rubbing alcohol and rinse with water. For lipstick, blot with hairspray or rubbing alcohol, leave for 15 minutes, and machine wash. Mascara or eyeliner? Apply dishwashing liquid or stain remover, let it sit, then wash as normal.

Biro marks

Accidentally drawn on your clothes? Spray the mark with hairspray (yes, really) to lift the ink, then wash or dab with dishwashing liquid or fabric detergent.

Wine stains

Accidentally drawn on your clothes? Spray the mark with hairspray (yes, really) to lift the ink, then wash or dab with dishwashing liquid or fabric detergent.

Coffee stains

Act fast! Rinse with water (hot for black coffee, cold for anything else). Dab with dishwashing liquid (no rubbing!) and rinse again. Then, wash as per the care label.

Greasy food

For anything greasy, sprinkle on potato flour over the spill and let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse with water. Follow up with dishwashing liquid and hot water and finally, wash and dry according to your care label.

Remember, always check your garment’s care label for specific instructions!

MENDING MADE EASY

Want to hem or crop your favourite piece? Follow these simple steps to give your clothes a fresh update:

1. First, find your new hemline.

Turn the garment inside out, put it on, and decide where you want the new length to be. Mark the fabric with pencil or chalk so you have a guide.

2. Trim the garment to size.

Carefully cut along the fabric to the desired length with a pair of sharp fabric scissors.

3. Make a new hem.

Fold the edge of the fabric up and over to create a clean new hemline. Pin it in place to hold it steady.

4. Time to sew!

Use a sewing machine, or a hand-held needle, to secure the new hem in place.

Iron with care. Gently iron the new hem to keep it neat and polished.

If in doubt, use SOJO. Our bespoke alterations partner offers a brilliant alteration and repairs service, so you don’t have to sew.
